Since 3 August 2026, all containerised cargo shipped to Kenya needs an Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) reference from the Kenya Revenue Authority before it is loaded. The 15-character ACD number (for example ACDKE2026004324) must be printed on the bill of lading, and from 1 September 2026 shipping lines will not load a container without a valid one. The ACD is lodged on the KRA portal using the draft bill of lading, commercial invoice, freight invoice and export declaration, and KRA fees apply. Talk to us early and we'll guide you through it so your container isn't held back.
